members and the body as a whole can grow (see Eph. 4:11–16). Members are not expected to sit passively, knowing they are part of the body of Christ. They are to participate; they are to interact and serve each other. They are continually to be “filled with the Spirit” (Eph. 5:18). In Acts we see the Holy Spirit filling the apostles individually or filling the church for the purpose of speaking God’s Word (Acts 4:8, 31; 6:3, 10; 7:55; 13:9). The Bible tells Christians that we should “earnestly desire
